In Every Child a Writer, assessment is an ongoing, formative process used to drive instruction. Prompted writing assessments allow teachers to appropriately place students in the correct developmental writing stage and to monitor students' progress. The Proficiency Validation Plan (PVP) enables teachers to track each student's progress toward mastery of standards.
