Every Child a Writer and Straight Up Writing are designed to ensure student mastery of the English Language Arts Standards.  These standards were built around the four major writing purposes:

ECAW includes a developmental series of products exemplifying the characteristics of these four purposes for writing at each stage of the program.  The teacher uses these products to model writing for his or her students.
